A Luxury Travel Packing List

Discover a curated luxury travel packing list, complete with elegant wardrobe staples, beauty essentials, and intentional packing rituals.

I believe in doing things beautifully not just efficiently. That includes how I pack. Before I step onto a plane, the journey begins at home—with a ritual as sacred as the destination itself. For me, packing is never rushed or utilitarian. It’s meditative. A moment to slow down, sip something sparkling, and shape the experience I want to have before I’ve even left my front door.

Luxury travel is not simply about where you go—but how you carry yourself throughout the experience. Everything from your airport outfit to your handbag essentials should feel like an extension of your aesthetic: considered, elegant, and tailored to support your best self.

Over the years, I’ve curated a personal system that brings ease, refinement, and yes, even joy to the process of preparing to travel. What follows is a glimpse inside my luxury packing ritual—along with a complimentary checklist to make your next departure equally elevated.

Preparing to Pack

I never pack in a rush. I give myself time. A few hours—sometimes an entire afternoon—to ease into the process with presence. First, I set the mood. A soft playlist fills the room. A candle flickers on the dresser. I pour a glass of champagne and take a slow breath before I open a single drawer. This isn’t just about folding clothes—it's about setting an energetic tone for the trip ahead.

I ask myself: What do I want out of this journey? What do I want to feel, explore, and remember? My selections—what I wear, carry, and keep close—are shaped by those answers. Every garment, every beauty product, every accessory is chosen with clarity. Packing, when done well, becomes a ritual.

Curated, Not Cluttered

When deciding what to bring, I follow a simple but strategic philosophy: 80% timeless staples, 20% intentional statements. The majority of what I pack are refined essentials—beautifully cut trousers, silk tops, a versatile blazer, and neutral tones that blend seamlessly. These are pieces I reach for again and again, regardless of the destination.

The remaining 20% are my statement pieces: a beautiful bag, a gorgeous dress, or vintage fine jewelry. These are the touches that transform an outfit—and elevate the mood. I don’t pack for perfection. I pack for potential—and let the journey determine what to wear, and when.

My Elevated Essentials

These are the timeless pieces I never travel without—the ones that elevate every itinerary and bring a sense of ease, elegance, and effortlessness to my travel wardrobe.

Carry-On Tote

I treat my carry-on bag like a mobile sanctuary. Everything is intentionally selected and organized. Inside a structured leather tote, you’ll always find:

  • Sleep: A silk eye mask and soft cashmere scarf to create a cocoon of tranquility mid-flight

  • Beauty: A luxe pouch filled with in-flight refreshers—hydrating face mist, nourishing hand cream, lip balm, breath mints, and a travel-sized fragrance

  • Tech: AirPods, a slim phone charger, and an elegant zip pouch to keep it all organized

  • Leisure: A beautiful pen, a slim travel journal for capturing thoughts, and one book—carefully chosen for the journey ahead

  • Documents: A structured passport folio, travel wallet, and printed itinerary tucked neatly inside

Signature Pieces

My wardrobe formula is simple: pack as little as possible but do not be uncomfortable. I prefer timeless items that can easily create versatile uniforms, taking me from museums to dinners, city strolls to resort lounges—with elegance and ease.

  • Tailored blazer in navy, gray or ivory

  • Silk or satin pants and structured wool or cotton trousers

  • White poplin button down shirts and elevated t-shirts

  • One versatile dress (in silk, linen, cotton or wool)

  • Comfortable yet polished flats, a kitten heel, and a chic snekaer

  • A designer statement bag that goes with everything

Occasional Add-Ons

I then make refinements based on the destination and purpose of the trip, but the formula never changes. Even seasonal or occasional pieces are chosen with the 80/20 mindset—functional, but with flair.

  • Warm climates: one-piece swimsuit, matching cover-up, sandals

  • Cooler destinations: wool coat, cashmere sweaters, appropriate shoes

  • Formal occasions: statement dress and bag, more dramatic jewelry

  • Cultural considerations: a scarf or wrap for respectful coverage as needed

Core Cosmetics

I am very particular about my skincare routine and preferred beauty brands, and don’t want to neglect my regimen just because I’m traveling. However, I also refuse to tote pounds of products halfway across the world. So I opt for the travel-sized versions of my favorites or use chic travel containers.

  • Face: Many of my Chanel Beauty and Biologique Recherche favorites come in travel sizes or are small enough to travel with

  • Body: Necessaire’s mini body essentials set is perfect for travel

  • Hair: I take a mini brush and comb, and travel sizes of my Oribe must-haves

Luggage Organization

The key to travel organization is not to overpack in the first place. I prefer the upfront work of establishing capsules and uniforms that work for almost any destination. Everything I pack must earn its place.

Next, I ensure I leave space in my suitcase: for comfort, for breathing room, for something special to come home with me if I find it. I don’t plan for souvenirs. But every now and then, a rare piece finds me—something beautiful, thoughtful, and too extraordinary to leave behind.

Finally, I focus on organization and this is where function meets elegance:

  • Packing cubes in tonal shades to separate apparel by category

  • Shoes and handbags stored in their dust bags, lingerie in mesh satchels

  • Cosmetics neatly arranged in clear non-leak zip pouches

  • A few fragrance sachets to keep everything subtly scented

Travel Well

Packing is an invitation—to become who you want to be on the journey ahead. When you pack with intention, you set the tone for the entire trip. So, we’ve created a downloadable checklist you can use for any elegant escape.
