5 Luxurious Hand Creams For Nourished Skin and Healthy Nails

In the pursuit of pampering yourself, the hands, often neglected yet tirelessly employed, also deserve a touch of opulence. Here are the luxury hand creams that will serve that noble purpose.

When it comes to luxury skincare and bodycare there are two essentials that I'm obsessed with: lip balms and hand creams. I simply cannot deal with parched lips and dry hands, and must stock the best of the best products to alleviate both issues.

In this edit, I'm focusing on luxury hand creams because I've gone through a lot trying to find one that meets key requirements. As our daily routines increasingly demand more from our hands, the quest for a truly transformative hand care regimen has never been more compelling.

These days, I've been keeping my nails natural and elegant. I save the no-chip salon trips for special occasions, and on normal days opt for at-home manicures to cut down on all of the chemicals and manipulation which were deteriorating my nail bed. My nails have grown so long and strong, so an added consideration is making sure my hand creams continue to enhance the health of my nails and cuticles.

I also consider the general appearance of my hands when choosing hand creams. I’m thin and have slim, bony fingers with visible veins. If I don’t take care of my hands they can look quite aged, which is a major contrast to my youthful face. So I need hand creams that provide serious anti-aging benefits.

I like to keep hand creams on the bathroom counter, on the kitchen counter, on top of my bedside table, and in my handbag. As a result of the various placements, I’m open to using a few different creams. However, they must meet my specifications. As always, we only recommend high-quality essentials we love and think you will too, and may receive a small commission if you indulge in a suggested product.

Ingredients

Luxury hand creams should contain premium, natural ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, almond oil, or other botanical extracts. I specifically look for formulas that have hydrating, nourishing, and deeply moisturizing elements.

Fragrance

I can’t do any heavy scents so I opt for fragrance free or a subtle, pleasant fragrance that is not overpowering. I don’t mind a scent that is mild and natural and lingers for a couple of hours. However, it shouldn’t reek of heavy chemicals.

Texture

I prefer a somewhat rich and creamy texture that glides on easily and absorbs well into the skin. I don’t like anything too unwieldy, and definitely don’t enjoy creams that are overly greasy. I like when creams leave my hands feeling soft and smooth for hours without a heavy residue. I also love when my hands and nails have a subtle healthy glow.

Formulas

Sometimes I’ll choose a cream that has properties that specifically address my skin type and concerns. Because the structure of my hands can make them look old, I don’t mind incorporating hand creams that offer anti-aging benefits, UV protection, etc. Anything that keeps them hydrated and youthful is a plus for me.

Packaging

I’ll be honest and admit that I also prefer luxury hand creams because they come in elegant and aesthetically pleasing packaging. I always look for a luxury aesthetic because it’s something that I’m carrying with me all the time or have sitting out around my home.

Ultimately, the most critical factor is whether these hand creams effectively nourish your skin, so when possible I suggest experimenting with trial-sized products to help you gauge the effectiveness before investing. Below are my favorite luxury hand creams (as of now), in no particular order.

Diptyque Velvet Hand Lotion

The name says it all. This is indeed a beautiful velvet-like formula that has the most light and lovely fragrance. I keep this hand cream in my bathroom because it comes in a chic refillable glass dispenser, doubling as decor.

It sits right next to the Softening and Comforting Hand Wash on my counter, making a great duo. Both of these products are soothing and perfect for alleviating the dryness and harshness associated with frequent handwashing.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

This hand cream is everything. I’m a believer in the benefits of shea butter, but the raw ingredient is too thick, oily, and heavily scented for me. However, L’Occitane has managed to capture the essence of this botanical in an ultra-creamy, highly-moisturizing formula.

It comes in two sizes, both with chic packaging. The travel-sized is inexpensive and easy to pack, so I bring it during trips or evenings out when I’m using a small clutch.

Chanel La Crema Main Riche

I simply can't do without this this luxurious hand cream. It’s a go-to amongst my handbag essentials. I prefer the "riche" formula because it provides a deeper level of moisture and nourishment. My hands feel soft and maintain a lovely sheen for hours.

The beautiful and innovative packaging is a bonus because it ensures you squeeze out every drop of product. Every time I think I’m done, there is always more that comes out! You can explore more of my Chanel favorites in this edit (I adore the lip balm too).

Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

There’s a reason this hand cream is a beloved bestseller. It has a fantastic botanical-based formula that will instantly transform the look and feel of your hands. I also like to rub it into my cuticles for extra nourishment.

I’ve long been an Aesop enthusiast and love several home and personal care items from their collection. This hand cream is one of my staples. Whether you order online or in-store, you’ll receive a reusable cloth pouch and several samples with your purchase.

Necessaire The Hand Cream

This hand cream is an excellent option if you want highly effective skincare ingredients for a reasonable price. Most of my bodycare essentials are from Necessaire, so I’m a true admirer of their formulations.

This is an unscented hand cream with almost a whipped buttery texture. Like their body products, it is ultra hydrating and you can immediately tell the difference in your skin.
